Tale Of Ritual - Missing Children

Hey all,

This month's "Tale Of Ritual" - "What Rose From The Lake", is now live.

This was the first short story I wrote for Tales Of Ritual, it follows a young girl who's parents acquire an incredible new house that backs onto a huge lake.
The theme I chose for this particular story was the innocence of a child. Cordelia May - the focus of the tale - is enamoured by the majesty of her new home, and finds the long jetty that stretches out across the lake, in particular, the most fascinating

But it soon transpires that all is not perfect, there is something different about the lake and one night Cordelia vanishes, never to be seen again.

The idea of this story was to put the reader in Cordelia's shoes, a young child who is captivated by almost everything.
She is extremely intelligent, but at the same time very naïve... and it's this naivety that proves her downfall.

I also wanted this story to address the dangers of leaving children alone, and how quickly things can go from normal to abnormal and leave the reader asking questions like: what truly happened? How did Cordelia disappear? Was it the act of a malevolent spirit or just a young girl's imagination?
All questions that can be answered by asking another... Why was she left alone?
